How Can we Know God?

The Primary way to Know God is Through Jesus

We live in a world where we trust what we can see, touch, and measure. We feel the floor beneath our feet, the water on our hands, and the warmth of the sun on our skin. These tangible things seem most real to us. Yet God is even more real than what we can see and touch.

The Bible reminds us of this truth: “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of Him.” - 1 John 5:14–15

It may sound unusual to say we can know God personally. After all, we usually think of relationships in human terms - parents, spouses, children, or friends. But knowing God is different. We cannot hug Him or see Him physically, yet He invites us into a relationship that is deeper than anything we experience in the physical world.

Understanding Our Spiritual Side

Human beings are more than just bodies and minds. We also have souls and spirits - parts of us that often go unused in daily life. When we begin to connect the spiritual with the physical, we open ourselves to knowing God in a profound way.

Quiet Time: A Path to God

Silence and solitude can be powerful tools for spiritual growth. As a child, I often played alone, using my imagination with dolls and stuffed animals. In those quiet moments, I discovered something greater: the presence of God. Loneliness became an opportunity to realize that I was never truly alone. God was with me, teaching me to rely on Him.

Prayer: Talking to God

Prayer is simply talking to God. A friend once asked me, “How do you pray? How do you know God is listening?”

The answer is found in Scripture: “Call to me and I will answer you.” - Jeremiah 33:3

Prayer may feel strange at first - speaking aloud to someone you cannot see. But it is through prayer that we begin to experience God’s presence. Just try. Speak to Him as you would to a friend. He hears you.

God Reveals Himself Through His Word

Another way to know God is through the Bible. Even a small step - opening it and reading a few verses can be life‑changing. The Bible is not just a book; it is God’s Word, alive and active. Ask Him to reveal Himself as you read.

Start small. Write a prayer. Read a passage. Invite God to show you who He is. He will meet you there.

A Simple Prayer

If you’re unsure where to begin, here’s a prayer you can say today:

God, please show me who You are.

I want to know You.

Help me to trust You and walk with You.

Amen.

Final Thoughts

Knowing God is not about rituals or rules - it’s about relationship. Through quiet time, prayer, and His Word, we discover that He is closer than we ever imagined. The journey begins with a simple step: reaching out to Him.

Take Care and God Bless.

Stay Tuned: God wants to Handle it for you.
