The Hidden Miracle of Easter
Easter is not only about the empty tomb. It’s about two miracles:
The first is what God did for Jesus by raising Him from the dead.
The second is what God wants to do in us because of what He did in Him.
This truth is beautifully illustrated in the story of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13–35).
Dejected Disciples on the Road
These disciples were broken-hearted. Their Messiah was gone, and their faith felt misplaced. Their journey was marked by:
Depression: Their faces were downcast, reflecting the weight of loss (Luke 24:17).
Despair: Their dreams of redemption seemed shattered. “We had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel” (Luke 24:21).
Confusion: Reports of an empty tomb only deepened their uncertainty (Luke 24:21–24).
Perhaps you’ve felt the same - disappointed, confused or ready to give up when life doesn’t unfold as expected.
Don’t Give Up: Christ Meets Us in Our Pain
The risen Christ didn’t leave those disciples in despair. He walked with them, and He wants to walk with you too. Notice what He did:
Opened their eyes: “Their eyes were opened, and they recognized him” (Luke 24:31).
Granted understanding: He explained the Scriptures, connecting prophecy to fulfilment (Luke 24:27).
Set their hearts on fire: “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road?” (Luke 24:32).
Sent them forth with hope: They ran back to Jerusalem declaring, “It is true! The Lord has risen” (Luke 24:33–34).
Christ Within Us: The Greatest Miracle
Henry Scougal once wrote, “True religion is a union of the soul with God, a real participation in the divine nature … It is Christ formed within us.”
That’s the miracle of Easter - not just resurrection long ago, but transformation today.
A Prayer for Renewal
Dear Heavenly Father,
I bring my depression, despair, and confusion before You. Lift me out of this pit and remind me of Your deep love, undeserved forgiveness, and amazing grace. Open my eyes, set my heart ablaze, and send me forth with the joy of knowing Christ lives within me.
Amen.
Wishing all my readers a pleasant Easter Weekend.
Take care and God Bless.
