Having True Bible Hope.

Recognize that True Hope is rooted in the Promises and Character of God.

2 Chronicles 20:6 (NKJV): “O LORD God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You?”

When King Jehoshaphat faced overwhelming odds, he didn’t collapse under fear. Instead, he set himself to seek the Lord (2 Chronicles 20:3–4). His prayer was not a lament about weakness but a bold proclamation of God’s greatness. He declared that no one could withstand the Lord. In a hopeless situation, he chose to hope in God.

That is true Bible hope.

What Is Bible Hope?

The word hope in the New Testament is the Greek word Elpis, meaning “a favourable and confident expectation” or “the happy anticipation of good.”

  • Confident expectation: Hope is not wishful thinking; it is certainty rooted in God’s promises.

  • Joyful anticipation: True hope brings joy to your countenance - a smile even in trials.

  • Assurance of good: Hope assures your heart that bleak circumstances are not the end of the story.

By contrast, modern usage of “hope” often implies uncertainty - “I hope I get the job” or “I hope things work out.” But biblical hope is the opposite: it is confident, joyful, and unwavering.

Hope Anchored in God’s Love

Romans 5:5 (NLT) declares: “This hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us.”

True hope flows directly from rightly believing in God’s love:

  • Love fuels hope: When you know He loves you, hope springs alive in your heart.

  • Hope never disappoints: God’s promises are sure; His love guarantees fulfilment.

  • Faith and hope united: Hope strengthens faith, and faith sustains hope.

Hope in Every Circumstance

No matter how adverse your situation may seem, you can trust that God is working behind the scenes for your good (Romans 8:28). His abundant resources - power, healing, restoration, deliverance, provision, Favor, help, comfort, and love - are on your side, waiting to be unleashed.

When your hope is in Him:

  • Heavenly provision: The Lord opens the windows of heaven to pour blessings beyond measure.

  • Certain victory: Your greatest victories are not behind you but ahead.

  • Unshakable trust: Hope anchors your soul in His promises.

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, thank You for being the God of hope. Just as Jehoshaphat proclaimed Your greatness, I choose today to fix my eyes on You. I believe that You are working all things together for my good. Fill my heart with confident expectation, joyful anticipation, and unshakable assurance of Your love. Let my hope in You shine as a testimony to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Be Safe and God Bless.
